Built for serious land-based saltwater anglers, the Ecooda Black Light BSG 100H is a powerful shore casting rod designed for long-range lure fishing from rocks, beaches and coastal headlands.

Its high-strength blank is engineered to cast plugs and metal jigs across a wide area while providing the power needed to control hard-fighting saltwater fish. A full set of 15 Fuji SiC guides promotes smooth line flow, efficient heat dissipation and stable line control during repeated casting.

The Fuji reel seat securely supports the reel throughout demanding casting sessions and powerful fights. With a PE2–4 line rating, a 30–80 g plug range and a 30–120 g jig range, the BSG 100H is a versatile choice for Australian shore spinning and land-based game fishing.

Ideal Australian Fishing Applications

The Ecooda Black Light BSG 100H is well suited to Australia’s demanding land-based saltwater fishing environments.

Recommended applications include:

  • Rock fishing along exposed coastlines
  • Beach and surf casting
  • Casting from coastal headlands
  • Shore jigging around deep ledges and drop-offs
  • Working lures around wash zones and reef edges
  • Casting towards bait schools and feeding pelagic fish
  • Land-based game fishing with plugs, stickbaits and metal jigs

The rod’s casting range makes it useful when fish are holding beyond the immediate shoreline or when anglers need to search a wider area from a fixed position.

Always assess local weather, swell, current and rock-platform conditions before fishing.

Target Species

Depending on fish size, location and tackle setup, the BSG 100H may be used to target:

  • Yellowtail kingfish
  • Australian salmon
  • Tailor
  • Bonito
  • Longtail tuna
  • Yellowfin tuna
  • Spanish mackerel
  • Queenfish
  • Cobia
  • Giant trevally
  • Other medium to large pelagic and coastal predators

Match the reel, braid, leader, hooks and drag pressure to the target species and fishing conditions.

How to Use

Casting Plugs and Stickbaits

Select a plug or stickbait within the recommended 30–80 g range. Make sure all rod sections are securely connected and the guides are correctly aligned.

Use a smooth casting motion and allow the blank to load progressively. Avoid sudden, uncontrolled power during the cast. A properly timed cast will generally produce better distance and accuracy than excessive force.

For floating stickbaits, use controlled rod sweeps and slight slack line to create a side-to-side swimming action. For poppers, use firm sweeps to make the lure push water, adding pauses between movements when fish are following without striking.

Shore Jigging

Use metal jigs between 30 and 120 g, selecting the weight according to water depth, current, wind and target species.

Allow the jig to sink to the desired depth, then retrieve it using rod lifts combined with controlled reel turns. Alternate between fast mechanical jigging, slower lifts and pauses until you find the retrieve preferred by the fish.

Maintain contact with the jig during the drop, as many strikes occur while the lure is falling.

Fighting Fish

Keep the rod loaded smoothly and apply steady pressure through the stronger lower section of the blank. Avoid lifting the rod into an extreme high angle, especially when the fish is close to shore.

Use the reel drag to absorb sudden runs and move along the shoreline when safe to maintain a favourable line angle. Check the line, leader and guide alignment regularly during extended fishing sessions.
