A versatile and forgiving shore casting rod for anglers getting started with lure fishing.
The Ecooda ETEL 902 is a two-piece, 2.74 m spinning rod designed for long-range casting in both freshwater and saltwater environments. Its medium-fast action provides a balanced combination of casting control, lure feedback and fish-fighting power, making it easier for newer anglers to develop a smooth and consistent technique.
The blank combines 30T and 24T carbon fibre to balance sensitivity with dependable strength. Quality guides and a secure reel seat support smooth line flow and stable reel control, while the high-density EVA and compressed cork grip offers comfort, traction and a natural feel during extended fishing sessions.
Available in two power levels, the ETEL 902MS covers lighter 10–35 g lures, while the stronger ETEL 902MHS handles 20–50 g lures and heavier line.
Specifications are based on the manufacturer’s measurements and may vary slightly.
The 2.74 m length provides useful casting distance for fishing from:
The ETEL 902MS is better suited to lighter estuary and general lure fishing. The more powerful ETEL 902MHS is designed for heavier lures, stronger current and larger coastal species.
Always assess swell, wind and local fishing conditions before fishing from beaches or rock platforms.
Depending on the selected model and tackle setup, the ETEL 902 may be used to target:
Choose the line, leader, lure and drag setting according to the target species and fishing environment.
Select a lure within the rod’s recommended weight range. Use a smooth casting action and allow the medium-fast blank to load progressively before releasing the line.
The 902MS works well with lighter hardbody lures, soft plastics and small metal lures. Use the 902MHS for heavier presentations and stronger fishing conditions.
Cast beyond visible bait schools, current lines or wash zones. Allow the lure to sink to the required depth, then retrieve it at a steady or varied speed.
Add occasional pauses or short rod-tip movements to imitate an injured baitfish.
Allow the lure to reach the bottom or target depth. Use controlled lifts, hops or slow rolling retrieves while maintaining enough line tension to detect strikes.
The medium-fast action provides a forgiving feel while retaining the responsiveness needed for lure control.
Keep the rod smoothly loaded and use the reel drag to absorb sudden runs. Avoid lifting the rod into an extreme high angle, particularly when the fish is close to shore.
Before fishing, ensure both rod sections are fully connected, the guides are aligned and the reel is securely fitted.
