The Ecooda Black Light BJ 61H is a versatile offshore jigging rod designed for both fast and slow jigging techniques. Built for deep-water fishing and hard-fighting saltwater species, it combines a powerful blank with the sensitivity needed to control jigs and detect strikes at depth.
Available in spinning and overhead casting configurations, both models are rated for PE2–4 line and 100–300 g jigs. Full Fuji SiC guides provide smooth line flow and rapid heat dissipation, while the Fuji reel seat holds the reel securely throughout demanding jigging sessions and powerful fights.
Its one-and-a-half-piece construction balances direct lure feedback with more convenient storage and transport. A protective GT-Fisher rod bag is included.
The Ecooda Black Light BJ 61H is well suited to offshore fishing around Australia, including deep reefs, offshore banks, current lines, pinnacles, wrecks and reef drop-offs.
Recommended applications include:
Select the jig weight according to water depth, current speed, drift and target species.
Depending on fish size, location and tackle configuration, the BJ 61H may be used to target:
Always match the reel, line, leader, hooks and drag pressure to the expected fish size and fishing conditions.
Drop the jig vertically until it reaches the desired depth. Engage the reel and retrieve using quick rod lifts combined with fast, controlled handle turns.
Keep the movements rhythmic so the jig darts upward and imitates a fleeing baitfish. Fast jigging is particularly useful when pelagic fish are actively feeding or holding around bait schools.
Allow the jig to reach the bottom or target depth. Use slower rod lifts and controlled reel turns to make the jig rise, flutter and fall through the water column.
Include regular pauses and maintain contact with the line during the drop, as many strikes occur while the jig is falling.
If fish are suspended, count the jig down or monitor the depth on your sounder before beginning the retrieve. Work the jig through the strike zone several times before changing depth or jig action.
In stronger current or deeper water, select a heavier jig within the recommended 100–300 g range to maintain better vertical control.
Keep the rod loaded smoothly and use the reel drag to absorb sudden runs. Apply steady pressure through the stronger lower section of the blank and avoid excessive high-sticking.
Before fishing, confirm that the rod sections are fully seated, the guides are aligned and the reel is securely fitted in the Fuji reel seat.
Choose the BJ S61H if you prefer a spinning reel setup with straightforward line management and casting versatility.
Choose the BJ C61H if you prefer an overhead reel for controlled jig drops, direct lure contact and efficient vertical jigging.
Both models carry the same PE2–4 line rating and 100–300 g jig range.
