Best Australian Fishing Conditions

Clear water: Use natural, transparent, grey, brown or darker colours when fishing clear bays, harbours, rock walls and shallow weed beds.

Low light: Glow and super luminous colours are ideal for early morning, evening, night sessions, deeper water and shaded structure.

Bright days: UV-active colours work well in clear coastal water, sunny conditions and areas with strong natural light.

Murky water: Pink, orange and brighter colours help the jig stand out after rain, wind or tide movement.

Suitable locations include harbour edges, jetties, wharves, rock walls, weed beds, reef edges and sheltered coastal bays.

How to Fish It

Cast over weed beds, sand edges or structure, then allow the jig to sink to the target depth.

Use two to three sharp rod lifts to make the jig dart, then pause and let it sink naturally. Most squid strikes happen on the pause or slow fall.

For shallow water, use a slower retrieve and lighter twitching. For deeper water, stronger lifts and longer sink time help keep the jig in the strike zone.
